The
DRS Group Boosts COM and Adds COLD Capabilities
Added Staffing and
Capacity Helps to Preserve Critical Information
Atlanta, GA (PRWeb) –
June 11, 2008 - Clifford Newman, president and CEO
of The DRS Group, announced today that the DRS Imaging
Group has boosted its Computer Output to Microfilm (COM)
and added Computer Output to Laser Disk (COLD)
capabilities. DRS has added capacity and experienced
personnel in its secure U.S.-based facilities to
preserve vital government, financial, organizational and
business documents and make this information securely
accessible when needed.
For more than four decades, DRS has provided
micrographic COM services to help clients store
essential information. COM is a proven and effective
means of archiving critical documents and
computer-generated information by transferring that data
to microfiche or microfilm. These mediums can last for
several hundred years. Moreover, since documents stored
on COM cannot be changed, both microfiche and microfilm
records are legally admissible in courts-of-law. And
when stored in controlled, safe environments, microfilm
and microfiche represent the best choices for ensuring
document survival in the event of natural or man-made
disasters. Plus, while technology changes over time,
microfilm and microfiche are relatively
obsolescence-proof since they can be read by almost any
illuminating device.
The DRS Group can transfer computer-generated data onto
105mm microfiche or 16mm roll film, as well as
microfiche and aperture cards. DRS has become one of the
largest Document Management Services providers in the
United States over its 44 years. Today, it is one of the
largest COM providers in the US, with thousands of
clients.
The DRS Group has expanded its COLD services as well,
which is an advanced electronic report management (ERM)
system that replaces "greenbar" printed reports (such as
accounting reports, loan records, inventories, shipping
and receiving documents, and customer bills) and
supplements COM for the storage and fast retrieval of
computer-generated data. Mainframe and mid-range
computer-generated reports can be automatically
processed, indexed, compressed, stored, and made
securely available on company networks or the Internet.
Multiple users can easily gain authorized access to the
same report or legacy information simultaneously.
Newman states: “We are very excited about being a
leading provider of both COM and COLD services. For
years, companies had few choices to choose from in this
arena. With our expanded capabilities and experienced
talent, we can assist corporations, government agencies
and organizations across the country to safely capture,
archive and retrieve vital documents. Along with
microfilming and electronic imaging of paper documents,
we are a company that provides all aspects of managing
irreplaceable information, ensuring that critical
information is safely stored and available when needed.”
